Funds for Leadership Development Provided by American Baptist Churches of New York State
THE LYNETTE C. MARTIN MEMORIAL FUND FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT was established in March of 1984 to equip local church leaders with the skills necessary to practice local church ministry. Miss Martin served ABC/NYS for 22 years, first as Director of Children’s Work and then as Director of Christian Education. This fund memorializes her commitment to training leaders for work within our churches. These funds are available for both lay and ordained church leaders. The funds can be used for:
Annual Regional educational events that focus on enhancing ministry leadership skills of leaders in our congregations.
Participation of individual church leaders in events that will broaden their skills and competencies in local church ministry.
Participation of individuals in events that will help them discern their call to ministry.
The following parameters apply to grants from this fund:
The fund will not be used to underwrite an ongoing academic degree program. The fund can be used to help defray the costs of a particular opportunity within a degree program that is not included in the normal tuition.
The fund can be used to supplementthe cost of events or experiences.
The recipient will be expected to contribute a portion of the cost out of her/his own funds.
An individual recipient may apply for a total of no more than $500 in grants within a two-year period.
